Olivia Mei Louie

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVIA!

I can't believe you are 5! You are growing up way too quickly and I wish I was there to celebrate your birthday with you, but know that I think about you all the time!

Remember to save a bedtime story for me- I will hopefully see you in August.

I love you!

Love, Cari

Tornadoes

The tornado sirens started going off on Saturday morning at about 4 am, and continued on and off all day. They are pretty annoying especially in the middle of the night (I feel like Ann Frank might have...on a much smaller scale) but at least we get some warning.

We have yet to hide in the closet, but the storms get pretty bad. The rain comes down hard, and it's so windy it looks like the rain is falling horizontally, but Collierville has yet to be badly hit. Tornadoes hit in a couple towns in our county, and apparently one touched down a couple kilometers from our house at about 1 am this morning. Scott and I slept right through that, so either it wasn't that bad or we're pretty heavy sleepers. I heard the siren go off, but fell right back asleep!

The problem with the tornado warnings is that they are issued by county. Our county, Shelby County, is quite large so we hear the sirens even if we are in no real danger. Scott equates it to "the boy who cried wolf", but one day we might actually need the siren so I try not to totally discount it.

There has been some bad flash flooding in areas near us. I head people were being rescued by boat. I guess this is one occasion where I can cheer for renting. It's never going to be my problem! (Other than the potential loss of all my stuff...)

But, the weather has passed and we are safe and sound!

16 Sleeps

until I am home....Alberta bound and on Canadian soil. I can hardly wait. My flight has been booked for a few months now, and time was a flying...but now that May has finally come the days are moving slooooowly by.

Besides the obvious family time/seeing Jordan etc. I have a list of things that need to be done. It has been 1 year...ONE YEAR since I have been home. My list includes, but is not limited to:

  • Lettuce wraps @ Joey's
  • California Shrimp Pizza /w Parm Dip @ Earl's
  • Chicken Salad at The Upper Crust (Kaelin- maybe this on Friday?)
  • Rotisserie Roast Beef on the BBQ, stuffed potatoes and salad @ home (dad- this is your duty)
  • Whyte Ave shopping and browsing
  • West Edmonton Mall- need to go to the British Import Shop to get chocolate bars for Scott
  • Of course, some inevitable drive by's with Kaelin. We probably should have outgrown this by now; but we haven't. No biggie.
  • Stealing shoes books from mum. (It's not really stealing when she gives them to you. And deep down, she gives them to me)
Like I said, I'm not limited to just what's on this list- this is just what pops into my head. There will be more, don't worry.

Luckily I have some things to divert my attention, and to look forward to in order to pass the time. This week there is a trunk show at the store for Debbie Segal and Sarah Robertson. Debbie's jewelry is AH-MAZING and Sarah's paintings are gorgeous! The store will already be crazy busy for Mother's Day, but the show will make it even busier. It will be fun!

I can't think of what is happening next week...but I'll figure something out. Maybe I'll hit the gym so I don't need a seat belt extension on the plane.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!
